THE RUM: Burlesque is one of our all time favorite releases – the accidental 90 day fermentation unleashed a wild, intense, multi-layered flavor experience with notes of mulled wine, cherry cough drops, red hots, flan custard and candied orange peel. Red Wine casks are fickle beasts that we usually avoid but 7 years of marriage with Roulaison’s pot still distillate resulted in a gorgeous integration that stays true through the end of its melodic finish.

Imagine that we sent the original Yowie to charm school and he returned one year older and 1% ABV stronger, still featuring the pre-2010 S. Pombe yeast trademark notes of floral eucalyptus and apricot but with new refined flavors of wild honey, white pepper and a dry matchstick finish. He’s more balanced, but still a BEAST! -
Kinnaree 9 yr Thailand Rum
$40.00We’re excited to be one of the very first IBs to release a rum from Thailand. While most of their domestic releases are heavily sweetened, we were so thrilled that their unadulterated distillate is wonderful stuff (at a reasonable price!) that we bought two casks. We’ve always wanted a quality “gateway” rum that was instantly accessible to rum newbies but still had the complexity and stamina to impress jaded rum aficionados. We were thrilled to find this rum in Thailand, a new country for most rum drinkers.
Why is this the “female” cask? She opens beautifully with lush, resonant floral notes while its sibling “male” cask has a strong lingering oaky finish.
