Papilio Hampden 6yr CH (500ml) 67.6% ABV (bottled by Nobilis for Raising Glasses)
$96.00
We always said we’d never bottle a Jamaican because our fellow US indie bottlers were releasing spectacular Jamaicans on the regular … until Nobilis (of Denmark) offered us this beauty! The rare Hampden C<>H marque boasts the 2nd highest ester (below only the notorious DOK marque) and is usually so powerfully pungent and aromatic that it can be more work than pleasure to drink.
Our Papilio bottling is an surprisingly drinkable C<>H – still packed with explosive fruit and funk but deliciously balanced with a hint of fragrant sweetness – and it comes in the perfect “Goldilocks” size of 500 ml (not too big, not too small … just right!), which we believe to be the first ever 500ml bottling by a US indie.
The Jamaican swallowtail butterfly is the largest butterfly in the Western hemisphere so it would be great if we had put it on the label … but we unknowingly sent a photo of the Giant AFRICAN swallowtail to our artist Razigla. Oh well, we never claimed to be entomologists!

Guardians (8 yr Trinidad Rum)
$45.00OUR TAKE: Guardians is the real sleeper in this lineup – Trinidad has produced some of the greatest rum in history (RIP, Caroni!) but also puts out a lot of so-so high volume juice so we didn’t enter the selection process assuming we’d come out with a “Trini”. And while the Foursquare and the Guyana were big, bold flashy candidates, this Trinidad kept popping up, refusing to be ignored (maybe because it’s over TWO THIRDS alcohol but drinks more like a 55 percenter). We succumbed to its fruity delights with absolutely zero regrets!
