Rumcast Reserve, Journey 1: Guyana VSG
In early 2025, Rumcast co-hosts John Gulla and Will Hoekenga tasted their way through the warehouse at Liverpool’s legendary Main Rum Company with one goal: come back with special casks that were not only evocative of the rum’s origin, but also of Main Rum’s unique aging environment and cask management skills.
This single cask is one of two selected for their inaugural releases, a 9-year-old molasses rum distilled at Guyana’s Diamond Distillery in the historic Versailles single wooden pot still.
The Specs:

Guardians (8 yr Trinidad Rum)
$45.00OUR TAKE: Guardians is the real sleeper in this lineup – Trinidad has produced some of the greatest rum in history (RIP, Caroni!) but also puts out a lot of so-so high volume juice so we didn’t enter the selection process assuming we’d come out with a “Trini”. And while the Foursquare and the Guyana were big, bold flashy candidates, this Trinidad kept popping up, refusing to be ignored (maybe because it’s over TWO THIRDS alcohol but drinks more like a 55 percenter). We succumbed to its fruity delights with absolutely zero regrets!
